SYNDICATION
Architect: Corporate Design
Objectives:
The objective
was to create an indirect lighting system that did not impact
the view and negatively affect the occupant from performing their
work tasks. The system had to be flexible to the needs of the
architectural space. Due to a variety of spaces, the wattage
of the fixtures would have to vary, yet the fixtures should look
the same.
Execution:
By using
a housing with a new shape, the architect was able to utilize
a variety of wattages which took advantage of the visually even
XL distribution which can use a variety of lamp wattages and
shapes. Due to the design of the optic and lamp system, the light
was thrown onto the ceiling without exposing either the reflector
or the lamp to the viewer. This was critical as the fixtures
should not impact the architectural space.
Results:
The even
distribution of light from the ceiling the needed high level
of indirect light as the main work light for the space. In addition,
the placement of the fixtures on the walls allowed for the full
height of the space to be felt. The housing is acting as both
a decorative element as well as a functional element in providing
a hidden location for the fixture optic and ballast.
